Good, Better, Best

Title: Good, Better, Best
Author: AlexaAffect
Reader: Dust_Bunny_Meow
Bingo Square(s): Crack
Fandom: DCU
Summary:
“That’s unfair!” Roy exclaimed, shouldering his way past Jason and shoving him away from Dick with all the charm of a petulant child.

“I asked first!” Jason yelled back. Whatever he’d been waiting for from Dick was ignored as he focused all his attention on his husband-to-be.

Their shouting match was finally interrupted.

“Oh my God! Will someone please just tell --” He cut himself off when Damian started laughing. Quickly, the three arguing adults turned to the side to where Damian and Tim had been watching all this time, both of them looking on amused.

Dick raised an eyebrow and Tim sighed, leaning back in his chair with a disbelieving chuckle.

“They’re arguing about who gets you as a best man,” He explained, nodding at Dick.

Or alternatively; Jason and Roy argue about who gets Dick as their best man.

October Challenge 2026: Eerie

Sun, 04 Oct 2026 21:37:40 GMT

Posted by: podfic_bingo_mod

The theme challenge for this month is Eerie (Please include the tag challenge: eerie when you post.) Theme challenges have to do with fic choice. Since this month's challenge is 'eerie' your story has to be related to that theme one way or another.

The shape challenge is ‘i’' (tag challenge:i). This should be at minimum 4 squares, ie:

OOXOO
OOOOO
OOXOO
OOXOO
OOXOO

Shape challenges require that you complete a specific shape of squares on your card. If you complete a shape challenge by the deadline, you’ll win a cheat. If your card already has the shape formation before the challenge starts, you can only count that challenge as completed if you fill at least one square on your card within the challenge time period.

You can pick the challenge you prefer or do both if you're feeling ambitious. Once you’ve posted the podfic required to fulfill the monthly challenge, please comment here to let us know you’ve completed the challenge.

If you complete a challenge, you earn a cheat. If none of the challenges appeal to you, you can also earn cheats by commenting on other people's podfics.

What are Cheats?
Cheats are rewards that allow participants to manipulate their cards so that they can be finished more easily. There are 2 kinds of cheats: shifting squares and swapping out squares. Shifting squares allows participants to swap locations of two squares on their card. Swapping out cheats allow you to discard one of your prompts entirely from your card and replace it with a prompt of your choosing from the Prompt List.

Summary:
His head is positioned somewhat above the rest of his body. Stiff but gentle fingers are coursing through his hair. They're shaking too much for him to be as comfortable as he'd like. It's nice, until they graze a leaking wound and he hisses.

"Fucking ow," he tries to protest, but it comes out slurred. The world feels too soft for him to care. Kinder than usual, perhaps because it's his brain that's suffering the damage.

The hand stills. Someone screams. Jason would roll his eyes if they were open. As it is, he just prays internally for silence and drifts off.

He will come back. He always does.

Or

The last time Jason confronted Bruce with a gun didn't go all that well, but it's fine, because the gun is for him and he can't die.

Welcome to Podfic Bingo: 2026!

FAQ | Sign Ups | Prompt List | AO3 Collection | Ask-a-Mod

What is Podfic Bingo?
podfic_bingo was originally the brainchild of klb. She wanted a challenge for podficcers like fic bingo challenges where, instead of being given subject prompts, we're given reading/podfic style prompts. These days, there are three main types of prompts: reading prompts (e.g. Read Loudly), production prompts (e.g. Record in a New Location), and fic choice prompts (e.g. Angst).

This can be a way for podficcers to try different things when podficcing to hone their art, to get out of a rut, to venture outside their comfort zone, or try something they've always wanted to but maybe didn't have the courage to.

Some things you try may not go exactly as planned, but it's all about learning and doing new things. Don't be afraid!

( Click here for the rules and FAQs of 2026 ).

Don't hesitate to ask a mod if you've got further questions.

FAQ | Sign Ups | Prompt List

Have questions about the Prompts? You might be thinking, "Do you consider a selkie a human?" or "Does Gamora count as a 'character of color'?" We purposefully don't have a list of definitions to go with our prompts so that the prompts can remain to interpretation. People can be so creative in how they interpret things and we want to encourage that.

However, if you find yourself looking at a square and have no idea what it means/what to do with it, leave a comment and we can let you know the original intent behind that prompt.
