*big sigh*
Jan. 30th, 2011 12:29 pmOK. So, everyone should have a card now. Beyond that, everyone should have a card without any blank spaces or repeating prompts (sorry LJ people for the multiple edits/comments, the spreadsheet I was using broke down at some point :S).
If you don't have a card and you should, give me a poke.
I also just realized I don't think I've explained the middle square yet. You'll notice it doesn't say "Free" but instead reads "Wild Card!" and some of you may also have "Wild Card" listed as a prompt elsewhere on your card.
Wild Card means you can choose to do any prompt. Either one of the 74 prompts we're using for the squares, or you can make one up (if you do, let me know and maybe it'll make it into next year's cards).
For anyone interested in how I made the cards, this was my method:
Step One
I got all the prompts into a list and gave each one a number (traditional North American Bingo has squares numbered 1-75 so I wanted there to be 75 prompts):

Step 2
I went to Random.org. Mostly I used Random.org because it easily gave me what I needed but I was also assured that the numbers pulled would be truly random since their numbers are based on atmospheric noise rather than pseudo random numbers based on a computer program.
I used their Random Integer Set Generator page. I generated 31 sets (1 for everyone plus 2 extra ones) with 24 unique random integers in each. Each integer had a value between 1 and 75 and I had the sets printed in a random order, which got me:

Step 3
I assigned a number set to each participant (specifically I went through in order of posts the DW sign ups, then the LJ sign ups).
Step 4
All this info was in an Excel spreadsheet, so once everyone had a set of random numbers, I did a V-lookup to pull the associated prompt. So now each podficcer had a random list of prompts.
Step 5
I borrowed the HTML code for the cards from this post over at
kink_bingo (thank you
kink_bingo!). Then I just used formulas to insert the prompt from the list and the podficcer's name into the squares.
This is the step where I apparently broke down a little. Somewhere along the way I started copying over squares that referred to blank cells, or the wrong cell. :S But it's all good now.
I must say, this was much faster and easier to do than the previous podfic comms I've run, but the Critical Feedback Exchange and
multipodicity involved matching people up, which is always hard.
So yeah, happy
podfic_bingo everyone! Let's have fun!
If you don't have a card and you should, give me a poke.
I also just realized I don't think I've explained the middle square yet. You'll notice it doesn't say "Free" but instead reads "Wild Card!" and some of you may also have "Wild Card" listed as a prompt elsewhere on your card.
